Intentional Observation: A Blueprint for Impact

Walking Tree Wisdom Weekly

Hello Reader,

This week, I had the privilege of attending the kick-off of the ACCEL program, where seven start-ups showcased their innovations. From CO2-sequestering concrete to vertical-axis wind turbines and biodegradable clothing embellishments, the breadth of creativity was inspiring.

Each founder shared their journey, highlighting a common thread: the power of observation.

Exploring the Possibilities

A simple yet profound question was central to their innovation: “What if?

These entrepreneurs dared to challenge the status quo, envisioning radical solutions to our pressing environmental challenges.

  • “What if we can generate water from the air in an efficient and economical way?”
  • “What if we can develop affordable, high-performance building materials from local agricultural residues?”
  • “What if we can provide drinkable water to people in water deserts?”

Their curiosity is paving the way for transformative solutions.

Intentional Observation: A Blueprint for Impact

While not all of us may invent revolutionary solutions like these entrepreneurs, we can still drive positive change within our organizations by harnessing the power of observation and curiosity.

By observing internal processes and customer interactions, we gain valuable insights into our impact on the environment and our stakeholders, which sparks innovative ideas for improvement.

However, effective observation requires intentionality.

It’s not enough to simply watch; we must have a clear plan, outlining our objectives, methods of observation, and how insights will be utilized.

At the conclusion of our observations, it’s key to summarize findings and engage our teams in thoughtful discussions about what was done well and what should change.

Embracing Intentional Observation

By making intentional observation a core part of our roles, we unlock a world of possibilities to enhance efficiency and drive positive change.

Let’s commit to this journey of exploration and innovation, knowing that each intentional observation brings us closer to a more sustainable future.

Until next time, let’s keep observing, questioning, and innovating. 🌱

All the best,

Eloisa
